Switch it up

Both lead & follow roles will be taught at the start of this workshop. Take a chance and take advantage of these great London teachers in town. ;)

 Join Anna and Ochryn to master the art of switch dancing, where you change roles during a dance. This workshop is open to all levels.

 Switch dancing is a playful way to find new ways of connecting to your partner. Changing roles helps you to develop a sense of your own voice, and the ability to listen to your partner, whether you are leading or following. It's also incredibly fun and constantly surprising; we defy you to go a whole song without sharing a laugh with your partner.

 We will cover:

• A short intro to your less-familiar role
• Switch etiquette
• Basic principles that you can use to indicate a change to your partner
• Moves that you can use to switch - either from lead to follow, or from follow to lead.

Ochryn and Anna have been teaching a lindy hop class in London since 2019. Their classes emphasise the importance community, finding your own creativity and connection to music. They are both enthusiastic switch dancers, and hope to get you hooked too.

This workshop is open to all. The general idea is to teach the same class twice in the same session, with people changing role for the second half the session. Come along whatever your level, to refine your basic technique in your current role, and explore the dance from the point of view of the other / your less developed role. We will teach in a multi-level way so that more experienced dancers can stretch themselves and less experienced dancers can stay safe.
